On October 30th former Middleweight contender and KO artist, Edison Miranda, will be moving up in the Super Middleweight division (168 lbs) against Henry Porras of Costa Rica. Miranda is coming off a devastating KO loss to current undisputed Middleweight champion, Kelly Pavlik, after getting dominated and beaten to the punch before succumbing in the 7th round. Miranda's reason for his loss was difficulty in bringing his weight down to 160 which I am not buying. I just think he got out classed and utterly dominated by a better and more powerful fighter.
This time though, Miranda will be fighting a fringe contender in two weeks to prepare himself when he faces the top ten 168 pounders. In my opinion, if Miranda carries his punching power well he might have good future in this heavier division. I'm pretty sure he will have problems dealing with guys bigger than him. I want to see him fight Alan Green again or maybe face off with Jeff Lacy in the future. I don't think he can't handle Joe Calzgahe and Mikkel Kessler, as these guys are considered the kings of the Super Middleweights.
