In a unification bout between WBA/WBO Lightweight Champion Juan Diaz and IBF Lightweight Champion Julio Diaz, every boxing fan will sure be treated to some fireworks and nonstop action when the 1st round bell starts. Juan Diaz never stopped pressuring Julio throughout the fight and proceeded to dominate his foe in every round. He nailed Julio with many punches in the 1st 6 rounds, never giving him any space to keep him away. Julio was forced to fight up close and targeted Juan's body with numerous hooks to no avail. It seems like he would be hit with many shots to the head and sometimes to the body before answering back with his own. In the 7th round, Julio is starting to look like punching bag as hard punches repeatedly bounced off his head. It was more of the same in the 8th as Juan Diaz battered Julio in the whole round. Julio Diaz never answered the bell in the 9th round, having enough of being in the bad end of a relentless beating. Juan claimed his 3rd Lightweight Belt as he now holds the WBA, IBF and WBO crown.
Juan Diaz is now also the undisputed champion in the Lightweight division and he can challenge the WBC champions Joel Casamayor or David Diaz. Juan mentioned that he wants top Super featherwieght Manny Pacquiao for his next fight which gives him a potential big money match against the Pacman.
