MUNDINE OUTPOINTS 'CRAZY KIM'

July 31st 2008 10:11
Anthony Mundine has defeated Japan's "Crazy Kim" by an unanimous points decision in a WBA super-middleweight non-title fight over 10 rounds in Newcastle.

Mundine stretched his career record to 33 wins (23 by knockout) with three losses in beating Kim on all three judges' cards - 98-92, 98-91, 99-91.

Mundine commanded the majority of the fight, keeping Kim on the back foot. He almost ended the bout in the eighth round after a flurry of punches.

But it was not all one way for the 33-year-old Mundine, who was cut in the opening round after an accidental clash of heads and was put down by Kim in the third round.

Mundine was fighting for the first time since he defeated Australian Sam Soliman in his fourth WBA super-middleweight title defence in Melbourne last May.

He is looking to drop down a weight division to middleweight for future contests.
